Thanks for joining me! I’m Jay, I’m 40 years old, happily married, a dog/cat daddy, and I have lymphedema. I was diagnosed 10 years ago this year. What is lymphedema you might ask? Here’s the short of it:
The condition is caused by a blockage in the lymphatic system, part of the immune and circulatory systems. Lymphedema is most commonly caused by lymph node removal or damage due to cancer treatment. The main symptom is swelling in an arm or leg that may be accompanied by pain or discomfort.
I wanted to start a blog from a guys prospective. There are tons of awesome informative blogs out there. The only real problem is they are all from a woman’s prospective. Dudes get lymphedema too! And that’s OK. I’m going to talk about current/past personal experiences, medical treatments/research, diet, health, sex, and everything lymphedema affects.
I hope you will join me on this journey whether you are a dude or a lady! I look forward to helping the word get out.
March is Lymphedema Awareness Month and March 6th is World Lymphedema Awareness Day!
